MG Spring 25 £ 9,000.00
MG Spring 25
  • MG Spring 25
  • Built 1989. A well maintained example of this surprisingly roomy 25-footer, with a double berth aft cabin tucked in under the cockpit, and a light, open, saloon.

The MG Spring 25 is a popular small family cruiser. Her wing keel and twin rudders give her shallow draught, ideal for exploring the tidal coast and rivers, and the ability to stand upright at low tides on firm hards. She has 4 +2 six berths in total.

Designed by Tony Castro and made famous in the TV series "Howards' Way". The Spring 25 has a lot going for it as a small family cruiser, particularly for those moving up from dinghy sailing, who might find more traditional small cruisers sluggish.

This example is powered by a 10hp inboard Yanmar 1GM 10 diesel engine.

1961 YW Diamond ‘Zest’ Sail No.1 Project
  • 1961 YW Diamond ‘Zest’ Sail No.1 Project
  • 1961 YW Diamond ‘Zest’ Sail No.1 Project

The mother of all sports boats - Yachting World Diamond Zest is regretfully offered for sale. Designed by Jack Holt as a planing keel boat she is referred to by her current owner as the mother of all sports boats. Outright winner of the RTIR 1961.

She has been dry stored for 20 years and is currently in the condition you see in the photographs, taken back to the plywood ready for epoxying (apart from the keel which is still painted). She is complete with the exception of her rudder. She has her original mast and boom, loads of old sails and all the component parts from inside the hull.

Greg advises that the rudder was the only “dog’s breakfast” in the design and recommends the new owner has a carbon fibre piece built and fitted 2 to 3 feet aft of the original design, this will make her a lot less prone to broaching which is a common issue with Diamonds. http://www.fastcomposites.ca/site/about-us/out-of-the-blue/?doing_wp_cron=1600208923.3038580417633056640625

This is a superb project for someone to get into. She can be a very fast boat and if desired can give her crew some exhilarating sailing. Once complete she can be certified to race under IRC. A very unusual boat that can be raced successfully in many different events giving her next owners a wide variety of competitions to choose from. At circa 1100kg plus trailer she has the ability to be towed behind a normal vehicle making her a very versatile and cost effective boat to run.

    Included in the sale:
    - Zest in her current photographed form
    - Original mast
    - Original boom
    - Old sails
    - Component parts from hull

Viewings and enquires welcome, please call Greg 07801 308054. Lying Mersea Island, Essex. Delivery available for 50p per mile round trip.
