    “Southern Flight” sleeps 8 in 4 cabins. Owners cabin with en suite and bath, two further twin guest cabins with joint head and shower. A further twin cabin at the stern for crew or guests complete with en-suite head and Sauna. There is a fully equipped galley with twin stainless-steel sinks, mixer taps with pressurised hot and cold water. A four burner gas hob with oven and grill, two fridges and microwave. The main saloon has U shaped seating for up to 6 people with a 2/3-seater settee opposite finished in red velour, around a large saloon table. The boat is heated throughout via a diesel central heating system. The accommodation is very light and airy, yet it is has a very cosy feeling and would make an ideal liveaboard.
    Mechanical Systems
    The boat is powered via twin 1979 Perkins 6.354 115hp six-cylinder diesel engines, freshwater cooled, shaft drive to twin 3 bladed bronze propellers. Giving a cruising speed of approximately 8kts with an approximate maximum speed of 10kts. 1600-gallon fuel tank which gives a cruising range of approximately 2400nm. Also, a 70-gallon diesel day tank. Last out of water service 2016. New heat exchangers 2016, New shaft seals and cutlass bearings 2016, Full engine overhaul and new cylinder Bo0wman heat exchangers and exhaust mufflers fitted in 2016.

    This Bates Star Craft is a wooden river cruiser were built by William Bates & Son in Chertsey, Surrey on the River Thames between 1946 and 1975. The boatbuilder aimed to produce an English built luxury motor cruiser to compete with Chris Craft. Initially, the hulls were built using double diagonal construction in mahogany, with teak decks and cabin sides with oak frames. This particular vessel has been modified at some stage to have a flybridge fitted. Owned by the current owner since 2012 she has restored to her current condition including the removal and replacement of the complete upper structure, re-wired, and both engines have been stripped and overhauled.     This Bates Star Craft 40 offers six berths in three cabins. The aft owners cabin has a double berth with storage beneath with two wardrobes and a sideboard cabinet storage.     The accommodation is fitted throughout with teak joinery to a very high standard and offers four berths in two cabins. The forward cabin contains two large single berths in a V configuration with drawers under for clothing. Outboard under the side decks are full length shelves with cave lockers under each berth. Set into the forward bulkhead is an access door to the chain locker. Side and forward windows let in plenty of natural light and there is a deck hatch forward of the door. In the port aft corner is a washbasin and dressing table with further drawers and stowage, while on the starboard side is the en-suite heads with Lavac WC, night lights and ventilator. There is a holding tank with diverter valve. The cabin has teak and holly soleboards with blue loose fitted carpet over, blue curtains and oatmeal berth covers. Reading lights over each berth.
    Aft into the saloon with half round settee in blue marine leather to port with a teak drop leaf table in front facing the galley opposite.
